-- 9/24 - 10/9 Fall Break

-- Beginning the Monday after Fall Break (October 10th), we are asking that parents no longer walk their students into the cafeteria or into the building. We want to foster independence for all of our students and also aid in keeping our school and students safe, so please be sure you’re following that expectation. You may want to start implementing that now to help make that transition a little bit easier.

September 4, 2022

Thank you so much for the wonderful turnout we had at our first Parent Advisory Meeting of the year!  We shared our school goals, provided information about ways you can get involved at AES, and were able to respond to questions that were posed.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, our doors are always open and would love to hear from you.

Morning Drop-Off Please utilize Katie’s Garden and the soccer field side entry drop-off until 7:45am and leave the circle drop-off available for students who are in Ms. Katie’s, Ms. Ashley’s, and Ms. Lisa’s classes.  After 7:45, please make the dino circle and drop-off at the front office, as the cafeteria doors are shut and locked at 7:45am.

AES Yard Signs - AES yard signs are hot off the press and we are ready to see them popping up all over our community!!  We will be celebrating the success of our students a little differently this year.  Each classroom teacher will be able to recognize 3 students (1 respectful, 1 responsible, and 1 being their best) each semester.  Each specials teacher will be able to recognize 2 students (2 super stars) each semester.   As student names are submitted, Dr. Pendergraft and Dr. Williams will invite the students to be part of the AES Morning Show (our daily virtual announcements), capture a picture, and share with the parent on Dojo.  While we know the Yard Sign assemblies were fun and exciting, this slight change has been made with the safety and security of our students in mind.

A few reminders about the upcoming week:

🌪 This week we will begin our diagnostic iReady testing. The i-Ready Diagnostic (grades K–12) assesses students’ academic skills in math and reading, helping teachers design individualized instruction for them based on their unique needs. The i-Ready Diagnostic will take place three times a year, assessing skills in math and reading. As a school, once the testing concludes, we will send home a parent report with the results of this assessment.

🌪 The cafeteria doors shut and lock at 7:45am. If you are arriving after school starts, please pull around and drop your child off at the front office.

🌪 To expedite morning drop-off, please remain in your vehicle and allow the teacher to open your child’s door. Also, to ensure the safety of your child, situate them on the side of the car nearest to the building, so they are not potentially in passing traffic.

🌪 Please plan on joining us Thursday, August 4th from 4pm-6pm at our Back to School Picnic. We will be providing hotdogs, chips, cookies, and juice.

🌪 Boys & Girls Club will be closed on August 3rd-5th - Please communicate other dismissal plans to your child’s teacher
