Profile

Technology class at the elementary level is a hands-on computer course that explores the basic elements of the computer and technology world appropriate and relevant to kindergarten through second grade. It is my goal that students gain a level of skills and appreciation for the computer, technology and online activities. Driven first by digital citizenship and online safety, this course seeks to teach technology vocabulary and expose students to the different kinds of computers and levels of technology.  The content and expectations sequentially build each quarter throughout the year in an 8-school day rotation. As students gain confidence and knowledge of basic technology and keyboarding concepts, students learn to apply them to the classroom work and expectations. This course encourages students to view technology as an essential part of the student’s own life, and their future as they progress through school and into the workforce.  Content is divided between basic computer skills, online educational software, research skills and keyboarding using the award winning online software Typing Club.
